This is Cliffhanger’s most popular course. Start your day off right with these early morning training classes, designed by Anne-Marie Comte for climbers of all abilities. You’ll learn breathing and mental techniques, how to overcome your plateaus, develop your composure, and build overall strength and endurance. This is not a competitive class. We’ll promote a fun and supportive environment in which you’ll be encouraged to learn at your own rate. Be prepared to sweat and have fun!
Anyone who is 19 years of age or younger must have our waiver read and signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Important note: Prior to taking this course, you must have passed a Cliffhanger Belay Check. If you do not have belay experience or if considerable time has lapsed since you last belayed, you may need to take our Intro to Climbing course prior to the first day of the class. Please contact us via email if you have questions.
Registration for both the Tuesday/Thursday and Wednesday/Friday classes are now closed and full as well as the waitlist for these classes.

Meet Your R.I.S.E. & Climb Instructor, Anne-Marie Comte (ACMG CGI Level 1)
Anne-Marie is passionate about climbing. For her, climbing is a balance of fluidity and strength. Under her direction, you’ll learn how to respond to climbing problems and challenges, persevere, and enjoy the blissfulness of moving on the rock. Her goal is to give climbing students as much technical and mental climbing knowledge as possible, in order for them to reach their full potential. Anne-Marie has worked in several different roles at Cliffhanger over the past ten years. She started out as a belayer, and her enthusiasm for climbing and teaching made for a natural transition into an instructor position. She has taught top rope as well as lead climbing, and has also worked as a coach for Cliffhanger’s Junior Team.
Anne-Marie has developed and led dynamic group climbing classes, such as Women in Climbing, Men in Climbing, and Technique Levels 1 and 2. Cliffhanger’s early morning R.I.S.E. (Resistance, Intervals, Strength and Endurance) & Climb curriculum is Anne-Marie’s brainchild. Most of her instruction focuses on mental and physical techniques for climbers of all levels. Anne-Marie loves teaching, and is grateful for the opportunity to serve and promote health and wellness through climbing. She is also a professional photographer, and loves capturing the whole spectrum of life’s events and emotions.
