To Our Cliffhanger Community

Updated Monday, June 29th

Thank you for your continued support! Given the new information from provincial and local governments, and after some careful planning, we were able to reopen the gym on June 8th.

You will see a number of changes at Cliffhanger. These changes were made to protect everyone’s health and safety. Please read through our new policies, listed below.

Important New Policies

These policies will likely be in place until health officials declare an end to the pandemic. Please read each policy carefully before arriving at the gym.

Capacity

  • Maximum 50 climbers in the gym at one time

  • Capacity increases will be subject to review based on information from health officials

Booking Climbing Times

  • In order to climb, you must book online first (as either a member or a non-member)

  • Two-hour time slots begin from the time of entry to the time you leave

  • Come ready to climb — bring only what you need, as changing room access will be limited and this may delay your start time

  • You may book one time slot per day

  • You may book up to two weeks in advance

  • You may cancel your booking up to 12 hours in advance with no surcharge

  • A $10 (+tax) surcharge will be applied to no-shows and to those who cancel with fewer than 12 hours of notice

 Health and Safety

  • Guests and staff must stay home if they have COVID-19 symptoms

  • Guests and staff must frequently wash their hands and/or use our hand sanitizer stations

  • Guests and staff must practice proper coughing/sneezing etiquette (into an elbow or using a tissue)

  • We strongly encourage all guests to wear face masks, though masks are not mandatory

  • Guests should stay two meters away from others whenever possible; distancing demarcations will be in place

  • Certain areas of the gym will have capacity limits; please adhere to posted signage

  • A maximum of four people are allowed in washrooms/changing rooms at one time

  • Guests must leave the gym within the last fifteen minutes of climbing sessions; please prepare accordingly

  • Guests must exit through the back door of the gym

  • Liquid chalk is acceptable, and limited quantities are available for purchase at the front desk; the use of regular chalk is prohibited

  • Drinking directly from the water fountain is prohibited; but you may use the water filling station for reusable bottles

  • Guests cannot wear climbing shoes in washrooms; we recommend that you bring sandals for use in these areas

You can read about COVID-19 from the BC Centre for Disease Control here.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak in person with a Cliffhanger team member, call us at 604-874-2400, or send us an email at [email protected].

Once again, thank you for supporting us. We hope you and your loved ones are well, and we look forward to seeing you in the gym!

Sincerely,

The Team at Cliffhanger
