To Our Cliffhanger Community

Monday, June 1st

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support over the past couple of months! We appreciate the understanding and kindness you have shown us. This has been a trying time for many small businesses, and Cliffhanger is no exception.

Given the new information from our provincial and local governments, and after some careful planning, we are excited to announce that Cliffhanger will reopen on June 8th. The gym has been completely reset, and we can’t wait for you to experience it!

You will see a number of changes at Cliffhanger, which are in place to help protect everyone’s health and safety. Please read through our new policies, listed below.

To celebrate our reopening, and to help you get back into climbing as soon as possible, we are offering discounts (through our website here) on gift cards, passes, and memberships throughout June:

  • 30% off gift cards — June 3rd & 4th

  • 25% off gift cards — June 5th & 6th

  • 20% off gift cards — June 7th & 8th

  • 10% off gift cards — June 9th to 30th

Important New Policies

To help protect everyone’s health and safety, we teamed up with other climbing gyms across British Columbia. The plans that we have collectively developed will likely be in place until the pandemic is declared over by health officials. Please read through the following policies:

  • June 8th to 14th — maximum 40 climbers in the gym

  • June 15th to 21st — maximum 50 climbers in the gym

  • Capacity increases will be subject to review based on information from health officials

Booking Climbing Times

  • In order to climb, you must book online (through our website) in advance; time slots are two hours from the time of entry to the time you leave

  • A booking calendar will be available on our website starting Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:00 pm

  • You may book one time slot per day

  • You may book up to two weeks in advance

  • You may book a solo session or with a climbing partner; each climber must have a current membership or 10-Visit Pass

  • You may cancel your booking up to twelve hours in advance with no surcharge

  • A $10 (+tax) surcharge will be applied to no-shows and to those who cancel with fewer than twelve hours of notice

 Health and Safety

  • Guests and staff must stay home if they have COVID-19 symptoms

  • Guests and staff must frequently wash their hands and/or make use of our hand sanitizer stations

  • Guests and staff must practice proper coughing/sneezing etiquette (into an elbow or using a tissue)

  • We highly recommended that guests wear face masks, though masks are not mandatory

  • Guests should stay two meters away from others whenever possible; distancing demarcations will be in place

  • Certain areas of the gym will have capacity limits; please adhere to posted signage

  • Come ready to climb — bring only what you need, as changing room access will be limited and might cause delays in starting your climbing session

  • A maximum of four people are allowed in washrooms/changing rooms at one time

  • Guests must leave the gym within the last fifteen minutes of climbing sessions; please prepare accordingly

  • Guests must exit through the back door of the gym

  • Liquid chalk is acceptable, and limited quantities are available for purchase at the front desk; the use of regular chalk is prohibited

  • Drinking directly from the water fountain is prohibited; but you may use the water filling station for reusable bottles

  • Guests cannot wear climbing shoes in washrooms; we recommend that you bring sandals for use in these areas

You can read about COVID-19 from the BC Centre for Disease Control here.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with regard to these policies. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak in person with a Cliffhanger team member, or send us an email at [email protected].

Once again, thank you for supporting us. We hope you and your loved ones are well, and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces again soon!
